NRL Highlights: 10 great things we achieved in 2021
It’s been an extremely exciting 12 months for our colleagues in the NRL Group, with lots happening across our businesses and branches. We look back at what were notably our NRL highlights for 2021.
Our Group became carbon neutral
Keen to ensure we’re playing our part to support the UK’s climate action, we were delighted to secure the Carbon Neutral International Standard across our businesses recently.
This included a comprehensive review of our operations to understand our carbon footprint and looking at how we could reduce our consumption. Then, by working with the team at One Carbon World, we were able to invest carbon credits in important global initiatives that support decarbonisation.
Our Recruitment website won a NORA award
After spending a great deal of time at the end of 2020 developing a brand new website for our Recruitment business, we were delighted to be recognised with a National Online Recruitment Award (NORA) in November.
As the Best Large Recruitment Agency, the judges were impressed with our candidate focused site and how easy it is for jobseekers to find and apply for the right roles.
Our NDT innovation secured an EIC award
When our Non-Destructive Testing business opened a new division to focus on Ultrasonic inspection and qualification services, they never expected to win an award for their efforts.
They were extremely humbled though to be recognised in The Energy Industries Council’s (EIC) Survive and thrive report for their diversification strategy, and subsequently announced as a category winner at the 2021 virtual awards ceremony.
Our NAECI and Recruitment compliance earned us a TALiNT award
When we entered the TALiNT International Annual Recruitment Awards this year, we wanted to tell everyone what a great job our Recruitment teams do to ensure our operations are delivered in the most heavily of regulated industries. This included the expertise our NAECI team delivers to ensure this complex working agreement is fully understood and managed on large engineering construction projects.
We were thrilled that the judging panel agreed with us, and awarded us the PurePro Back Office Team of the Year accolade on the night.
Our Egremont team were proud to support the Pride of Cumbria Awards
Supporting important causes in their local community has always been of the utmost importance to our Egremont team. So, when they were approached to continue their support to sign up as an associate headline sponsor for the Pride of Cumbria Awards they were keen to do whatever they could to highlight the selfless efforts of local residents during the pandemic.
This also included Branch Director Rebecca Graves joining the judging panel to decide the winner of the much-coveted NHS Worker of the Year category.
Our Linx business launched a new compliance auditing services
As our Workforce Solutions experts in our Linx business continued to look at how they could further support our clients, they launched a brand new service. Providing a comprehensive review and audit across the supply chain to ensure operations are fully compliant and meet industry best practice.
Our clever colleagues Emma and Andy secured a Masters with Distinction
As if managing their respective branches wasn’t enough, Emma Lowden and Andy Williams undertook the massive commitment of studying for a Masters degree. Both demonstrating their continued investment in personal and professional development, we were extremely proud to see each of them achieve distinction.
Our Group grew by welcoming 25 new colleagues into our businesses
This year we’ve seen a remarkable number of new colleagues joining us to work across our businesses. We’re delighted to have welcomed each and everyone one of them as they’ve settled into their roles and are already making a big impact.
Our colleagues worked together for our year of giving back
Across the UK and even as far as Egypt, our colleagues spent the year supporting local causes that were close to their hearts. Together they raised over £5.5k to support 20 charities – including using 23.5 days of paid leave for volunteering.
Our annual Christmas Conference made its return
Colleagues were excited for the opportunity to join together earlier in the month for the return of our Christmas Conference. Unable to celebrate as a collective in 2019, colleagues to delighted to greet old friends in person and catch up.
