NRL welcomes Taylor to a new career in Non-Destructive Testing
NRL’s Non-Destructive Testing (NRL NDT Services Limited), business has welcomed a new recruit to their Egremont branch, as Taylor Gibbons joins the team.
Having supported West Cumbria’s nuclear industry since NRL was founded in 1983, the team of technical experts works across a number major projects on the Sellafield.site, primarily engaged with radiography operations on small bore pipe butt welds and vessel welds.
Taylor joins as a Technical Assistant and NDT Technician, having already completed PCN Level 2 in Dye Penetrant Inspection in her previous role as a Welding Apprentice. Bringing three years of experience in the technical field, her training continues with NRL where she is currently completing a PCN Level 2 in Radiography.
Discussing her first few months in the role, Taylor is pleased with her move to NRL.
“I’d been interested in NDT for some time, as I find it fascinating that you can discover defects that the eye may not be able to see, without damaging the weld. There’s a lot of opportunity for problem solving and devising solutions as well, which is appealing.
I saw NDT as a career goal, so initially I accepted a role training to be a welder which helped me to understand the background of inspection. I know this experience will be valuable as I further my training in NDT, and as I’ll be working on major projects in the region’s nuclear sector, I’m looking forward to getting out on site with the rest of the NRL team to deliver our services.”
Managing Director Phil Jennings welcomes Taylor’s appointment.
